Another area of wrongful termination law is retaliation, which is a growing field of law that makes it unlawful for an employer to retaliate and terminate an employee because they engaged in some sort of protected activity under the law. These cases may include claims of retaliation where the employee has been terminated because they complained of some conduct they felt to be illegal conduct on the part of the employer, whether they felt like they were compelled to do something illegal themselves, or whether the employer was committing some sort of illegal practice. My role in those particular cases are to identify whether the client has a legal cause of action that could be asserted against the employer for termination of employment.
